Vtion Wireless Technology: Revenues and EBIT in line with the Guidance 2013

Preliminary Results 2013

  • Revenues of 59.95 million Euros at the bottom edge of guidance range between 60 and 70 million Euros
  • EBIT margin of 8.39% in line with guided margin between 8% and 10%
  • Guidance 2014 includes results slightly above the level of previous year

Frankfurt, February 14, 2014

Vtion Wireless Technology AG, one of the leading suppliers of wireless data solutions for mobile computing in China, announces its preliminary results for the fiscal year 2013. The company achieved revenues of 59.95 million Euros, hitting the bottom edge of guidance that called for revenues between 60 and 70 million Euros. The EBIT margin of 8.39% is consistent with the forecasted range 8% to 10%.

Vtion's financial results basically relied on its wireless data terminal business in the year 2013. Though the company has seen steady pressure on its average selling prices in this segment, the lean cost structure allows the enterprise to remain profitable in this business. Meanwhile, Vtion seeks to counteract pricing pressure in the consumer data card segment by moving into specialized data terminals and modules. An adapted version of a Vtion data card designed for laptops is being developed that allows tax authorities to connect wirelessly with stores so they can transmit their revenue information.

Vtion Anzhuo continues to operate its own online store 'Vmarket' and also provides platform construction, operation and promotion services for smart devices brands and Internet TV operators. Currently, a total amount of 35,268 applications via 'Vmarket' and partner sales platforms are offered. However, the monetization for mobile applications is very difficult with an open system like the Android platform. Hence there is little income contribution from this segment.

With the release of the license (TD-LTE) for the fourth generation mobile technology (4G) by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the major operators in China are preparing for the construction of the 4G network actively. Vtion will enlarge its product offerings created for the 4G technology, and will also seek opportunities to expand and adapt its business model over the course of the year.

For 2014 Vtion expects results slightly above the level of the previous year with revenues of at least 60 million Euros and a consistent EBIT.

The final results will be published with the annual report 2013 on April 29, 2014. The Management Board will hold a conference call in the morning of that day to discuss the results and field questions concerning the company.
